Five treatments, set out in full
What each one is for, how the appointment actually runs and what to expect afterwards. Everything else we do is listed at the bottom of this page.
Treatment 01
Root canal treatment
A root canal removes infected tissue from inside the tooth, cleans the canal system and seals it. The outer tooth stays. Dr. Aggarwal uses magnification for canal work, which matters most in molars where the canals are narrow and easy to miss.

- Pain that wakes you at night or lingers after something hot
- A tooth that has darkened after an old injury
- Swelling or a small bump on the gum near one tooth
- A deep cavity that has already reached the nerve
How the appointment goes
- 1X-ray and diagnosis
We look at the shape of the roots and how far the infection has travelled before anything else happens.
- 2Anaesthesia
The tooth is numbed and tested. Treatment does not start until you confirm you cannot feel the tooth.
- 3Cleaning and shaping
Infected tissue comes out, the canals are cleaned and shaped, then dried.
- 4Sealing
The canals are filled and sealed so bacteria cannot get back in.
- 5Crown
Most root-treated back teeth need a crown afterwards, because the tooth becomes brittle once the nerve is gone.
Afterwards
Expect a dull ache for two or three days while the ligament around the root settles. Chew on the other side until the crown is fitted. Call us if the tooth feels taller than the ones next to it.
The treatment itself is done under local anaesthesia, so the appointment is usually less uncomfortable than the toothache that brought you in. Soreness afterwards is normal and settles within a few days.
Treatment 02
Dental implants
An implant is a titanium post placed in the jawbone, with a crown fitted on top once the bone has healed around it. Unlike a bridge, the neighbouring teeth are left alone. Dr. Aggarwal has been placing implants as part of her practice since 2016.

- Several gaps that would otherwise need a long bridge
- A loose lower denture that moves while eating
- A tooth that has to be removed and replaced
How the appointment goes
- 1Assessment
We check bone height and width, and rule out gum infection. Some cases need a scan rather than a plain X-ray.
- 2Placement
The post goes in under local anaesthesia. Most people describe it as easier than an extraction.
- 3Healing
Bone grows against the implant surface over roughly three to six months. A temporary tooth can cover the gap meanwhile.
- 4Crown fitting
An impression is taken, the crown is made to match your other teeth, then fitted and checked against your bite.
Afterwards
Keep the area clean from day one. Implants do not decay, but the gum around them can become inflamed and that is what causes most late failures. Plan on a check-up and clean every six months.
Placement to final crown is usually three to six months, driven by how fast your bone heals. Immediate loading is possible in selected cases and is decided after the assessment.
Treatment 03
Crowns and bridges
A crown caps a tooth that has cracked, worn down or been root treated. A bridge joins two crowns across a gap. Both are made in a lab from an impression or a digital scan, and both are colour matched in daylight rather than under the chair light.

- An old metal crown that shows a dark line at the gum
- A single gap with strong teeth on both sides
How the appointment goes
- 1Shade and shape
The shade is picked before the tooth is prepared, while it is still hydrated. Dry teeth read lighter than they really are.
- 2Preparation
Enough tooth surface is removed to make room for the crown material, and no more.
- 3Temporary
You leave with a temporary crown so the tooth is protected and you can eat normally.
- 4Fit and check
The final crown is tried in, checked against your bite from every angle, then cemented.
Afterwards
A new crown can feel unfamiliar for a day or two. If it catches when you close, come back and let us adjust it rather than waiting for it to wear down on its own.
Zirconia is stronger and has no metal edge, which is why it is the usual choice for front teeth and heavy grinders. We go through what suits your case at the appointment.
Treatment 04
Smile makeover and cosmetic dentistry
Cosmetic work starts with a conversation about what specifically bothers you. Sometimes that is answered by a clean and whitening. Sometimes it needs veneers or edge reshaping. We would rather do the smaller thing first if it gets you the result.

- Chipped or uneven front edges
- A gap between the front teeth
- Old front fillings that no longer match
How the appointment goes
- 1What you want changed
We ask you to point at the specific thing in a photograph. Vague briefs produce vague results.
- 2Health check first
No cosmetic work is started over untreated decay or bleeding gums.
- 3Preview
Where veneers are involved, you see a mock-up on a model or directly on the teeth before anything is prepared.
- 4Treatment
Whitening is usually one or two sittings. Veneers take two visits, roughly a week apart.
Afterwards
Whitened teeth pick up colour again over time, faster if you drink a lot of tea or coffee. Sensitivity for a day or two after whitening is normal. Veneers need the same flossing as natural teeth.
Professionally supervised whitening at controlled concentrations does not remove enamel. The sensitivity some people feel is temporary and settles once treatment ends.
Treatment 05
Children's dentistry
The aim of a child's first few appointments is that they leave willing to come back. That often means the first visit is a ride in the chair, a count of the teeth and nothing else. Treatment can wait a week.

- A first check-up, ideally around the first birthday or when teeth appear
- Brown spots on the back baby teeth
- A knocked or chipped tooth after a fall
- Adult teeth coming through behind the baby ones
How the appointment goes
- 1Meet first
We show the mirror and the chair, and let the child hold things before anything goes near their mouth.
- 2Look
A quick count and a check of the biting surfaces where decay usually starts.
- 3Prevent
Fluoride application or sealants on the deep grooves of the new adult molars.
- 4Treat, if needed
Small fillings are done in short appointments. We stop when the child says stop.
Afterwards
Brushing twice a day with a smear of fluoride toothpaste does more than anything we do in the chair. Adults should be brushing for a child until roughly age seven, because the hand control is not there before that.
An infected baby tooth hurts, disturbs sleep and can damage the adult tooth forming underneath. Losing one early also lets the neighbouring teeth drift into the space.
